Shortly after my marriage to Betty, we were in a family setting and I was telling a story of some sort. Betty gave me one of her looks: the one that says, "Be careful, don't take this too far!" Our daughter warned me, because she had seen it too: "Didn't you see Mom give you the hairy eyeball?" I did, but decided to forge ahead anyway. It turned out OK, and this song is the result of that and many other encounters with the impact of body language in our daily lives. Nod, nod, wink, wink!
lyrics
Body Language
Tap, tap, tap your foot now, no doubt my crime's been booked
Wag, wag, wag your finger, and I know my goose is cooked
Give me your hairy eyeball, to run would be absurd
'Cause your body language says so much, you don't need to say a word
Chorus
Words, words, words, so necessary
And words, words, words can educate
But words, words, words don't always carry
What your body language can communicate
Roll, roll, roll your eyes at me, I know I've been dismissed
Smile, smile, smile that smile of yours, and I feel I've just been kissed
Fold your arms and stare me down, it's clear you are perturbed
'Cause your body language says so much, you don't need to say a word
Chorus
Shake, shake, shake your head now, tell me yes or no
Wink, wink, wink and nod nod, lets me know I'm in the know
Everything you're telling me, I haven't really heard
'Cause your body language says so much, you don't need to say a word
Chorus

I grew up in a house that was always filled with music, from opera and hymns to musicals and the symphonies of the classical
composers. As a consequence, my head has always been full of tunes and my song-writing has flowed from that wealth of music as well as the rock and blues I have gravitated to as an adult. My inner child stays close by, so my creations are mostly for kids - of all ages....more
