As a former high school biology teacher, I have always been intrigued by all things scientific and have a great appreciation for the scientific method. We have been aware of climate change for some time now, and anyone who discounts it is either ignorant or has interests that make admitting that it is upon us inconvenient. Inconvenient is the least it will be when the people on the coasts are under water.

I Heard The News Today
I heard the news today, the polar caps will melt away
And all the coastlines flood, that's what they say
Most scientists agree, it will be a catastrophe
All caused by people just like you and me
Pollution, solution, it seems that we don't have one
What in the world have we done?
Populations, congratulations, the sky may never be so blue
And what on earth must we do?
I heard the news today, some people walked the streets to say
They hope this nonsense soon will go away
Some learned folk spoke too, their data says it's C02
And other green house gases in the brew
Fossil fuels burn in every factory and car
Pollutants trap heat from the light of our star
If no one wants to quit their gas guzzling car
We'll soon be like a bunch of bugs in a jar
I heard the news today, it's never been this warm in May
In fact it's getting warmer day by day
Our leaders met today and this is what they had to say
"We've got to change our ways without delay, blah, blah, blah"
Atmospherics, hysterics, the heating up has just begun
What in the world have we done?
Global warming, violent storming, where will we be when it's all through?
And what on earth must we do?
Yes, what on earth must we do?

I grew up in a house that was always filled with music, from opera and hymns to musicals and the symphonies of the classical
composers. As a consequence, my head has always been full of tunes and my song-writing has flowed from that wealth of music as well as the rock and blues I have gravitated to as an adult. My inner child stays close by, so my creations are mostly for kids - of all ages....more
